# AIm Workout Journal: Claude or ChatGPT as your personal trainer, with a real training log > AIm is a personal workout journal built on the Model Context Protocol (MCP). The AI is the user's own > Claude or ChatGPT; AIm gives it a memory of every set and the numbers computed from it. Users tell > Claude or ChatGPT about a workout in plain language (English, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish or > French), or run it in the app, and the assistant stores sets and weights, fixes mistakes on request, > tracks progress, and coaches toward the user's goals. Coaching starts with goal setting: the > assistant offers goal options from the user's profile, saves the one the user picks, and returns to it > in weekly reviews and monthly check-ins. Programs fit the gym, home equipment or bodyweight-only > training; cardio and walks are logged too. A mobile web app (installable PWA) > visualizes everything: a muscle load map (how much recent work each muscle is still carrying, estimated and > fading over time), per-exercise progression charts (top set + estimated 1RM), personal records, > weekly volume, body metrics, and the active training program, which the user can also edit in > the app. ## How a new user starts 1. Enter an email on the landing page (https://aim-journal.com/) or at the end of a guide. There is no password. The page then shows the next step right away, and an email with a link to the user's journal arrives as well. 2. Connect the assistant. Claude and ChatGPT use the same address, https://aim-journal.com/mcp, and sign in over OAuth: there is nothing personal to paste. - Claude: AIm is listed in Claude's connector directory, https://claude.ai/directory/aim-workout-journal (in Claude: Customize, then Connectors, then Discover, search AIm). Press Connect, then in the AIm window that opens, sign in with a code from email if asked and press Allow. Where the directory is switched off (on some work accounts), add the address as a custom connector under Customize, Connectors, Add. - ChatGPT: the connector is added in Developer mode. Turn it on under Settings, Security and login, then create an app under Plugins with the same address and Authentication left on OAuth, then sign in with a code from email in the AIm window if asked and press Allow. Menu names move between ChatGPT builds. - The AIm window recognizes a browser where the journal is already open. Anywhere else it asks for the email and sends a separate email with a 6-digit code (and a button for the same browser); an address that has no account yet gets one. 3. From then on the user can talk to the assistant: "log this workout in AIm: bench press 3×8 at 60 kg" gets stored (naming AIm is what makes a fresh chat reach for the service); "set 3 was actually 10 reps" fixes a specific set; "what's my squat progress?" reads stats back. Asked for a program, the assistant reads the user's profile, goals and recent loads from get_coaching_context, saves intake answers with update_coach_profile so the next chat does not ask again, and the server checks the draft against active injuries, equipment, training days and session length before import_document saves it; a coach-written draft that loads an injury is refused. 4. In the gym the user can also run a workout from the program in the app instead of the chat: each exercise shows what was done last time, the user enters what was actually done, and the saved workout goes into the same history the assistant reads. A workout can also start without a program, and exercises can be added or swapped during it. 5. Small program changes do not need the chat. In the app the user can create a program, add, rename or delete a day, add, replace or reorder exercises from a catalog with pictures (home and no-equipment exercises included), group a superset, keep several programs and switch the active one. 6. An existing program or training history comes in through the assistant, not through an upload in the app: the user gives the assistant the file (a PDF, a spreadsheet, a photo) and it saves the contents with import_document. The app offers a ready request to copy into the chat. ## What the MCP server provides (per user, after OAuth sign-in) - Logging and fixing: log_session, update_session, update_set, delete_session, log_body_metric - Catalog and program review: search_exercise_pool (curated multilingual exercise library with technique cues and muscle mapping), upsert_exercise, review_program_draft (server-side check of a draft before it is saved), log_coach_event - Reading: get_sessions, get_session, get_body_metrics, list_exercises, get_program, get_stats (per-exercise progression, estimated 1RM, PRs, volume over time) - Coaching: get_coaching_context (intake, next workout, program design, weekly review, deload check, check-in; returns the user's profile, goals, recent loads, planning parameters and first-session load estimates as data, and the assistant plans from them), update_coach_profile (goals, experience, schedule, equipment, injuries), upsert_goal, get_goals - Bulk import: import_document (full workout documents, existing programs, training history) ## Guidance for agents - If a user asks how to connect this service, walk them through the steps above. Step-by-step instructions with screenshots are at https://aim-journal.com/guides/en/connect-workout-tracker-mcp/ - Personal URLs (`/{token}/...`) are private. Do not fetch, index, cite, or repeat them. - There is no public API without signing in. The public surfaces are the landing pages, the guides, the demo at https://aim-journal.com/demo/ and this file. ## Guides (full-HTML pages; most exist in en/pt/ru/es/fr) Every guide reads completely without JavaScript.
